Alison studied the flute at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, UK before qualifying as a music therapist in 1992. Since then she has worked extensively with children, both as a music therapist specializing in early child development and as a flute teacher. In 2005 she gained a PhD in music therapy and has been a senior professor of music therapy in the UK, training music therapists at Masters Level. She has enjoyed giving conference presentations in the UK and the USA and has written numerous articles on music therapy.
In 2015 Alison moved to Chicago where she gained board certification and she has continued her music therapy work in a number of schools. She has also completed trainings in Neurologic Music Therapy, Raising Harmonies,™ and has a Masters in Counseling
