Teaching Artist, Violin
Billy Oh received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University in Chicago. Prior to that, he studied at Dartmouth College. He is certified to teach Suzuki books 1 through 8, with additional training in the Suzuki Principles in Action (SPA). He trained under Ed Kreitman, Alice Joy Lewis, Ed Sprunger, Carol Dalinger, Joanne Melvin, and Kimberly Meier-Sims. He grew up as a Suzuki student, getting to know first-hand the benefits of studying through the Suzuki method.
Billy has been performing, recording, and teaching in Chicago for more than 13 years. He is also a founding member of Tangleweed, a bluegrass ensemble that has recorded four albums and toured regionally and nationally. As a performer, his main area of expertise is improvisation, which he can apply to several musical styles.
