Lead Music Therapist
Sonia is a board-certified music therapist in the process of completing her thesis for the master’s equivalency music therapy program at the University of Minnesota. During her graduate studies she actively engaged in research and worked as a graduate assistant. Sonia completed her music therapy internship at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, where she worked with young people of all ages on multiple in-patient units. She also worked as an administrative intern at Institute for Therapy Through the Arts in Evanston, IL, where she observed and assisted individual and group music therapy sessions in a variety of settings.
Sonia received her Bachelor’s degree from Tufts University in Medford, MA, in music and cognitive & brain sciences. She studied piano and voice and participated in multiple musical ensembles—including a Disney a cappella group—as an undergraduate student. Sonia continues to enjoy singing, writing, and playing music in her free time. She is passionate about her work and enjoys opportunities to provide holistic, person-centered music therapy services.
