Steppin' Up

Picture
Ages 3½ to 4½ years
Children gain more independence and confidence as they begin to synthesize concepts of beat, rhythm, and melody as basic tools for musical expression. Instrument exploration, improvisation, and movement continue to play an important role in the class. Children learn musical vocabulary and its meaning. Xylophones, drums, rhythm instruments, and stories are used to introduce musical concepts. When they are ready, most children move from Steppin’ Up into the Instrumental Music program, starting with the Instrument Primer class or delving right into private lessons on a chosen instrument via the Suzuki method.
