Teaching Artist, Piano
Virginia attended Knox College, focusing on early childhood education and psychology, before receiving her Bachelor of Arts from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. She trained in the Suzuki method with Mary Craig Powell and Yasuko Joichi and religiously attends the Suzuki Association of the Americas Annual Conference. She is certified to teach the Suzuki piano repertoire through book 4.
Virginia's abilities as a compassionate and patient Suzuki instructor are informed and strengthened by her work training canines, which also stresses repetition, timing and content of criticism, the joy of practice, and development of focus. In her spare time, she and her dogs serve as pet therapists with the Pawsitive Therapy Troupe and work with the R.E.A.D. literacy program at schools and libraries.
