Charlotte HargestTeaching Artist, Classroom Music
Charlotte Hargest, born in raised in Northern Virginia, received her Bachelor of Music with a
concentration in Choral Music Education in 2018. In 2016, she assisted in a research project measuring the self-efficacy of music teachers following professional development in Nepal. She created and led multiple presentations on vocal health and technique for the incredibly talented teachers at MusicArt Society, led by Sumit Pokhrel, and several independent teachers in Jhapa and Pokhara. After graduation, she went on to teach as a classroom music teacher and choral director for five years in Prince William County Public Schools. In that time, she received her first level in Music Learning Theory, taught private lessons, created social clubs for students to make friends in low pressure environments, developed beginner piano curriculum serving children with autism, and directed productions of Annie Junior, The Sleeping Beauty, and The Little Mermaid Junior. Now she finds herself in Chicago, exploring new ways to bring music and joy to as many people as possible with her new team at Chicago Center for Music Education. |
