where do classes take place?
The class will take place in person at ChiME’s West Town facility. what will students learn?
Students will learn to recognize and name instruments and will discuss correct ways to play them. They will practice keeping a steady beat and echo-playing rhythms. They will explore melodic contour, experience high and low sounds, and discover expressive qualities, including dynamics and tempo. They will learn to take beautiful bows, stand/sit in rest position, and echo clap/play all Suzuki Twinkle rhythms on percussion instruments (optional instrument bucket packs are available for purchase) in preparation for private instrument lessons. CAn I enroll at any time?
Because we introduce different instruments each day, it is best to enroll before the beginning of the session and attend every day. This way your child won’t miss any instrument presentations. what do children do?
Each day of camp will consist of musical warms ups (beat, rhythm, melody), movement activities, instrument demos and exploration, listening, lots of imitation, and games. A small, pre-packaged, nut-free snack will be provided. What materials are needed for participation?
Students don't need any materials to attend. Each family is welcome to purchase the ChiME Time Bucket with percussion instruments for use at home. These are available online, when you register, or any time at the front desk. WHEN DOES THE NEXT SESSION BEGIN?
The next session of Meet the Instruments will start September 9 with classes running on Saturdays at 11:30am for 9 weeks. Registration is open now! Click the REGISTER NOW button to enroll. |
