where doES The Camp TAKE place?
This camp will take place in-person at ChiME’s West Town facility at 1148 W. Chicago Ave.
Is any experience needed for the Camp?
Enrollees should have at least a beginning to intermediate understanding of their instrument.
WHAT MATERIALS ARE NEEDED?
Students are required to bring their own personal instruments for the duration of camp. Please make sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes appropriate for walking to the park. Please bring your own NUT-FREE lunch for each day of the camp.

Participants Do?
Students will workshop together in full group and small group activities while exploring various plucking and bowing techniques, and learning 2-3 pop song arrangements and classical pieces.
What will Participants learn?
Students will:

What If I have to miss a day of the Camp?
If we know about the absence ahead of time, the instructor might be able to set up remote access or make a recording of the key parts of the day. If not, we will make sure to catch the student up with all day’s work the next time they can join the camp. ​
Calling all guitarists, violinists, violists and cellists to join the fun in ChiME’s new Pop & Classical Strings Camp! Campers will workshop together in playing and improvising to familiar pop song arrangements and classical pieces, hand-picked for the session with significant input from students. Small-group instruction will be led by Dr. Jose Guzman on guitar and Dr. Janice Lee on string instruments. After working in small groups, all students will rehearse as one ensemble to put all the puzzle pieces together for the final performance. All camp activities will help students develop musicianship, instrumental technique, and ensemble playing, while also offering opportunities for growth of important life skills such as listening, collaboration, planning and preparation, accountability, and creativity. At the end of this week-long camp, students will present a final showcase of all the pieces learned throughout the camp on Friday at 1:30pm - friends and family are welcome to attend!
