About ChiME PD for Classroom TeachersAll strong teachers and school administrators know that music can do wonders for students, but what if you can’t even carry a tune? ChiME is here to help! In addition to our direct work with students in classrooms as partner schools, ChiME offers professional development for classroom teachers in early childhood through 12th Grade. Our Program Directors, Lead Teaching Artists, and licensed Music Therapists meet classroom teachers where they are and guide them through activities, songs, movement, cross-curricular planning, and just enough pedagogical theory to give teachers the confidence they need to meaningfully incorporate music into their own teaching.

All of ChiME’s PD sessions for Classroom Teachers support established growth goals for Chicago teachers. For example, nearly all ChiME PD sessions address a variety of components across multiple domains of the CPS Framework for Teaching, such as “Creating an environment of respect and rapport” (2a) and “Engaging students in learning” (3c).
