About Rhythm & Rhyme

ChiME Time Rhythm & Rhyme engages younger students through songs, games, dances, and musical movement activities. This program focuses on developing communication, self-expression, self-confidence, and social engagement through music. Students will learn, explore, and create music in a student-centered, collaborative environment led by a ChiME teaching artist. For schools where students receive classroom music instruction during the school day, ChiME Time Rhythm & Rhyme creates opportunities for a deeper level of engagement and learning.

Short- & long-term student outcomes

Short-Term Outcomes

• Students will practice social engagement skills such as listening, turn-taking, and collaborating.
• Students will explore and perform foundational music skills such as steady beat, rhythm, dynamics, and singing.
• Students will create music, lyrics, and/or movements independently and as a group.

Long-Term Outcomes

• Students will build meaningful relationships and friendships based on mutual respect, trust, and accountability.
• Students will develop an appreciation of various musical genres.
• Students will gain skills for effective communication and confident self-expression.
