Troy Anderson
Teaching Artist, Trombone, Trumpet Troy received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas and Master of Music degree from DePaul University. While at the University of North Texas Troy was a member of the world renowned One O'Clock Lab Band. After graduating with a degree in Jazz Studies, he relocated to Chicago to pursue his Master degree at DePaul University. At DePaul, Troy conducted the Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Workshop, and recorded with the DePaul jazz ensemble as a soloist and lead trombonist. After obtaining his Master in Music degree from DePaul, Troy launched a full-time career as a freelance trombonist and low brass teacher in the Chicagoland area. Troy has performed and recorded legendary artists and numerous Chicago based bands. From 2008 to 2011 Troy served on the brass and jazz faculty at the Merit School of Music where he conducted the Concert Jazz Band, Junior Jazz Band and coached Merit’s Honors Jazz Combo and Jazz Trombone Quartet. After serving as a freelance musician and teaching artist in Chicago for a number of years, Troy began his career in community arts education in 2001. Prior to his appointment as Executive Director at the Chicago Center for Music Education he served as Dean of Programs at the Merit School of Music in Chicago and Program Director at the David Adler Music and Arts Center in Libertyville, IL. |
