This is a new program at ChiME

Currently ChiME is offering two group classes for beginning guitarists: Beginning Guitar for Teens Beginning Guitar for Adults |
Beginning Guitar for Teens
Classes will meet on Mondays Stay tuned for more details - coming soon! |
When is the next session?
This class will run from September 9 through November 18. Where do classes take place?
This class takes place in person at ChiME's West Town location at 1148 W. Chicago Ave. Can i enroll at any time?
It's best to attend all sessions. However, students who enroll the second week of class should be able to catch up with the material. After two weeks, it's better to wait for the next offered session. What will I learn in the class?
Students will learn the foundations of guitar in a group environment, where they will have the opportunity to hone their musical skills while also having fun. Our weekly groups provide a supportive, welcoming environment for beginners to learn together. Material covered will include open chords and simple riffs, reading tabs and lead sheets, and beginning strumming and finger-picking patterns. Students will learn how to play a few songs, chosen collaboratively by the teacher and students. What materials do i need for class?
Students should have an acoustic guitar - Guitar Center has some good options for purchase and for rent. Other materials include a guitar pick, a capo (both sold at music stores and online), and a binder for musical handouts. A guitar strap is optional. What will happen after the first SESSION?
ChiME is looking forward to building this new guitar group class program. When you are done with the first introductory level, we will offer another session for the next level up and continue to do that as long as there is interest. |

Suzuki Violin Group Classes
Enhance your child's experience in Suzuki violin lessons: reinforce skills from private lessons and develop ensemble skills.
A weekly group class is required for Suzuki violin students. The class aims to integrate fundamental musicianship concepts into instrument study, providing a well-rounded musical education. It offers a wonderful opportunity to work and play with other students in a setting that develops the essential skills of listening, communication, and collaboration. The class prepares students for future orchestral and chamber music opportunities. It also teaches social skills and provides a strong community to students who might otherwise feel isolated in their daily practice on a solo instrument. Students are placed in groups by the private lesson teacher, according to level.
Note: Suzuki Violin Group Classes are an addition to private lessons. All students must be enrolled in private lessons.
