Maurice (Reese) Carr
Teaching Artist, ChiME Time Drumline Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Maurice (Reese) Carr began banging on various objects around the house, as early as he can remember. Now a professional drummer and producer with over 30 years experience, Reese has had the good fortune of recording and touring internationally. He’s performed at renowned venues, such as South By Southwest, Lincoln Center, and The Apollo Theater. For the past thirteen years, Reese has been facilitating his own rhythm workshop entitled “Journey Through Rhythm.” His workshops are conducted for children and adults of all ages, terminally ill hospital patients, and people with various clinical disorders or special needs. Reese also conducts private home clinics, teaching students the fundamentals of drum-set, as well as other forms of rhythmic self-expression. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Reese has a Bachelor of Arts degree in film and video production, having written, directed and acted in numerous independent film projects. A renaissance man at heart, Reese remains constantly involved in various community arts based activities, fully devoted to expanding himself as an artist, facilitator, and person. |
